Choose a nursing concept that is supported by a nursing theory and address the following components of a concept analysis:
• Concept definition; identification of three concept attributes; description of one antecedent and one consequence of the concept; identification of at least one empirical referent
• A brief explanation of the concept’s theoretical applications (How is the concept relevant to nursing theory?)

On the other hand, a person can be caring without providing adequate care to patients. Although care and caring are supposed to be synonymous, they are not always. While some nurses care for patients, others may simply provide care because it is their job, rather than because they care. Care and caring have always been difficult to define, but many people believe that care is the central and unifying core of nursing. It is critical that nurses understand what care is and what care means to patients.
There is a distinction to be made between care and caring—good quality care is always important, but caring for patients is what they will remember. The terms “taking care of patients” and “caring for patients” are not interchangeable. Patient care emphasizes objective professional care, such as medical or psychological aspects of nursing. Caring for patients, on the other hand, is a humanistic approach to patient interaction that demonstrates genuine concern and care for patients simply because they are human beings. The emphasis on patient-centered care necessitates adjustment to patient perceptions (Sossong & Poirier, 2013). The transpersonal relationship between patient and nurse becomes clear during those caring moments.
