According to Hsieh, Hsu, and Huang (2016), constructivist learning theory, which I have chosen, is a learning theory found in psychology that illuminates how people obtain knowledge and learn. Cognitive theories are used to analyze students’ learning development processes in order to understand how the mind receives, orders, stores, and retrieves knowledge. The goals of constructivism are to understand the skills used in the processes of critical thinking, teamwork, and individual inquiry, all of which are critical to nursing practice and the application of evidence-based practice.

Active collaboration, discussion, and teamwork are all part of the learning process. The emphasis on social and cultural aspects of learning is one of the advantages of using constructivist learning environments. This theory is based on the concept of an active learning environment.
