What are the relationships between the key nursing theoretical framework and nursing education? How do the nursing conceptual and theoretical models relate to theory-driven, evidence-based practice?

I feel that it is my obligation to be a servant to all our patients and students. I must do the lord’s work without questions. That goes for nursing as well. I feel that God had led me into nursing. I have never thought about being a nurse when I was younger. One job led to another, and I just ended up choosing to be a nurse instead of a teacher. My passion was to be a high school teacher because I didn’t feel that I got the best education in my high school years. When I use to work on the floor in Med-Surg, I enjoyed working with my patients. I made it my responsibility to get to know my patients and what they know about their illness and how they manage it when they are at home. I only remember having 1 bad experience with a patient which happened to be a psych patient that pulled a knife on me when I tried to flush his PICC line. I have had the honor of having a patient come from another floor to my unit asking me to change their dressing because they thought it needed to be changed. I got permission from their nurse before I did it. I think patients look for comfort and temporary companionship from their caretaker when they are ill. I let my patients know that I do work for them, and we can compromise of some things that they do not agree with when implementing their care plan. For instance, I had a patient who was diabetic with a constant high blood sugar. He did have orders for the insulin sliding scale which he refused his insulin each time. He states that he does not take insulin at home by choice. I asked him to try the insulin injection to see what happens and then we will talk about it. Insulin made his so weak and ill that he could not function. The nurse-patient relationship is so important when a patient feels vulnerable and helpless. I feel responsible for teaching a patient, student, and the community new information on how to stay healthy, and to care for others for a positive outcome.

Actually, the important leaders in the bible are known as the “slaves of Christ” (Romans 1:1; II Peter 1:1) I believe that the title of being a servant keeps a person humble and also indicates that they are working not for their benefit but rather to benefit others. So that taking care of patients would be acting as a servant or leading for the sake of the patient’s needs.

The word “altruism” is something I learned early in my nursing career. Altruism is the first thing that comes to mind as a servant to our patients and the community. The practice of Altruism means to put the needs of others above their own. My upbringing instilled in us a sense of decency and courtesy and has equipped me with core values to be of service to those who are in need. Because of this, I am more modest and kinder toward others. Throughout our education, we learned that nursing has never been a lucrative profession, it has to be your calling. Therefore, it must have been necessary for you somehow. The field of nursing enables people to assist others who cannot do so independently. Because of limited resources, working conditions are not always ideal. Caring for these ailing people and the community requires an outpouring of compassion. People who wish to serve must also be empathetic, kind, committed, responsible to their patients and families, and good at bringing people together. It inspired nurses to uphold their patients’ rights to privacy and safety.

Strong Altruism is essential for nurses and nursing students. The nurse is selfless and always looks out for the best interests of her patients. It inspired the nurse to maintain the patient’s respect and ensure their safety. Each of us ought to serve our community and have a positive effect on the lives of others.
