Jean Watson’s Philosophy and Science of Caring stresses the humanistic aspects of nursing as they intertwine with scientific knowledge and nursing practice. According to Watson,” humans cannot be treated as objects and cannot be separated from self, other, nature, and the larger workforce.” (Alligood, 2014). Her theory encompasses the whole world of nursing, with the emphasis placed on the interpersonal process between patient care. This theory is a generalized theory for nursing that applies to many settings and patient populations. In the caring theory, the patient is the focus of practice rather than the technology. Jean Watson’s Caring Theory is also helpful in uniting the healthcare community with a common goal of improving global health. Watson’s theory and the

principles of integrative nursing are aligned with the unitary paradigm in a way that can inspire and mold nursing knowledge, enhance patient care delivery across populations and healthcare settings. It can be used to generate and create new healthcare policies. An integrated, comprehensive nursing and caring science is a means to transform the healthcare system into an accessible, equitable, safe, cost-effective, patient-centered system that will benefit the world.

Personally, I chose the Environmental Theory of Florence Nightingale, which emphasizes the nurses’ role of being at the center of the healing process for the patient through our genuine presence and intentionality, therefore, optimizing the ability of the patient to heal from within. Florence Nightingale’s philosophy and teachings advocate for the nurses’ role in creating a healing environment to care for the patient’s body, mind, and spirit. The Environmental theory is the heart of critical, holistic thinking in nursing because it describes the humanistic approach to unifying the patient and their environment and the nurses’ role in providing a healing environment (Riegel et al., 2021). Florence Nightingale is an inspiration to all the nurses and me because she was remembered for her accomplishments during the Crimean War. However, her most significant achievements were centered on her desire and work to create social reform in health care and nursing. As a future nurse leader, I would like to ensure that we make a healing environment for the patient by renewing the commitment of the nursing staff to providing safe and high-quality nursing care where patients can heal from within. As a nurse leader, I would like to organize staff training, foster professional development, and prepare budgets to enhance Quality-of-Care Standards. As a nurse leader, I will proactively oversee nursing units and ensure that nurses follow established protocols and procedures that maintain patient safety and high-quality patient care.

Introduction to advanced nursing has been a great and exciting course for the past four weeks. The weeks’ DQs, responses, and course assignments have given me a significant experience and have encouraged great interaction. It is from the interaction that I have gathered diverse insights on advanced nursing issues, specialties, and related nursing theories. The concepts I have learned have significantly impacted my practice experience and given me a broad view of the nursing profession.

The learning experience has been encouraging, particularly after reading about everyone’s ambitions and future goals in the advanced nursing practice. I have also learned to appreciate and recognize the impact of nursing theories in practice. Having looked into nursing care theories in week 4, I am encouraged to integrate every concept into practice. The foundational knowledge instilled by nursing theories encourages me to meet my professional duties and patients’ rights. As Younas and Quennell (2019) assert, regardless of the nursing specialization and our future goals, the theories discussed are crucial in guiding practice and enhancing positive outcomes.

Besides, I am excited that most of the goals I set at the beginning of the class are being accomplished. First, I intended to gather as many insights from my peers, which has been made possible by the peer responses. I also looked forward to balancing school and other activities. The program has been highly favorable, and I look forward to interacting with the content in the coming weeks. I anticipate that the content will further guide and prepare me for my future role as a nurse leader. As a nurse leader, my role will encompass interaction with several other advanced practice nurses. Thus, the course is an excellent guide to a successful and fulfilling career.

Reviewing the topic on “How to View the Citation report” on the Lopeswrite, the Citation report and it’s content was explained. Items found in the report were identified and explained. Categories mentioned that may be found in the report summary toolbar included the word count, similarity score, quoted text, citation items, grammar items, settings, and download. The word count will ensure that your count is within the required number of words for the assignment given. The similarity score compares your work with other sources to identify similarities from the internet or other institution sources. Quoted texts are not included in the similarity scoring. Citation items on the other hand identify the items in the submitted document that are detected from internet and institution sources. We need to ensure that these items are properly cited. Lastly, grammar errors will flag some possible grammar and spelling errors within the assignment that may need to be corrected. Lopewrite helps detect plagiarism so the similarity score needs to be lower. If it is high, the assignment may need to be rewritten and proper citations need to be included. This is a very useful tool to improve our writing and help us identify some of the areas that need to be checked and improved.

Self-care nursing theory and Culture-care theory are two major nursing theories. In the self-care philosophy, patients should take care of themselves to profit from the sickness. This notion helps patients comprehend their health difficulties and how to improve through instruction and nursing care. Cultural care stresses cultural competency since culturally varied people need greater creativity and awareness. Healthcare practitioners should appreciate other communities’ beliefs and values.

Pros:

•  The patient will know what is wrong as it will improve the knowledge of HIV/AIDS and prevention and testing for STI/STDS.

•  People from other cultures may feel more comfortable communicating their opinions.

•  Cultural knowledge improves patient care.

Cons:

•  Patients cannot always care for themselves.

•  Consequences may arise.

•  Nobody understands racial differences.

These principles promote nursing care and practice. It explains the nursing theory application.

Nursing Self-Care

The American Nurses Association’s Code of Ethics for Nurses emphasizes that nurses must practice self-care in addition to caring for patients. Watson’s Theory and Science of Caring assume that science is at the center of nursing. Watson’s care philosophy encourages self-care. Watson’s Caritas’ two main findings are that “we must learn to care for, forgive, and love ourselves before we can care for and love others (ANGELO GONZALO, 2021).” The nursing instructor should practice it so patients can become healthy quickly.

Care Theory

Protecting patient Confidentiality

Medical record privacy is a major ethical and legal issue in healthcare. Psychiatrist-patient conversations and medical information is confidential (Cohen, 2013).

Relationships

It is against the rules for medical professionals or staff members to have romantic relationships with patients. Anyone engaged in the sexual assault may be harmed, including the institution; nevertheless, the institution’s code of ethics should be unambiguous.

End-Of-Life

Patients at the end of their lives may have apparent wishes for passing away. Families may find it challenging to withdraw a loved one’s life support. Personnel in the healthcare industry and clinical executives are responsible for managing end-of-life scenarios and elderly patients who cannot make rational choices.

Infections

The epidemic virus has refocused attention on healthcare personnel’s right to avoid infectious illnesses via direct or indirect patient contact. Without a patient’s health history, ethical and legal issues emerge.
